Privacy policy

The short version: Faint Signal does not ask for your name or email, shows no ads and uses no trackers. What you type to a character is sent to our AI provider so the character can answer. You can delete everything from the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Faint Signal (the app and the website faintsignal.app) is published by Faint Signal, the data controller. Contact for any privacy question: support@faintsignal.app.

We do not use advertising, advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs or cross-app tracking. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
3. How the AI works with your messages
Characters are voiced by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, guided by stories written by our team. When you send a message or search, its text, the recent conversation and your story progress are sent to Anthropic's API to produce the reply and to check it for safety. Before anything is stored, phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, schools and full names are automatically replaced by […].
Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models. Anthropic retains it only for a limited period for trust and safety purposes, under its own privacy policy.
Please never share personal information (real name, address, phone number, school, passwords) with a character. They are fictional.
4. Service providers
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, server functions), hosted in the European Union (Belgium,
europe-west1). - Anthropic (AI replies and moderation), United States.
- Expo (push notification relay), with delivery by Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM).
- RevenueCat (subscription status), with payments processed by Apple or Google.
- Hostinger (hosting of this website).
Transfers outside the European Economic Area rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable.
5. How long we keep it
Your game data is kept as long as your account exists. Reports are kept until they have been reviewed and closed. If the app is not opened for 24 months, we may delete the anonymous account and its data.
6. Deleting your data
In the app, open Settings › Delete my data. This permanently deletes your account, progress, messages, notes and reports. It cannot be undone. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription: cancel Faint Signal+ in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
If you no longer have the app, email support@faintsignal.app with anything that helps us find your account (for example your subscription receipt) and we will delete the matching data within 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time (for example by turning off notifications). Write to support@faintsignal.app. You may also complain to your data protection authority; in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
8. Age
Faint Signal is designed for players aged 12 and up, and the age rating shown on each store applies. It is not directed at younger children. If you believe a child has used the app in breach of this, contact us and we will delete the data.
9. This website
faintsignal.app sets no cookies and loads no third-party trackers, fonts or scripts. Our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security for a short period. If you close the language suggestion, that choice is remembered in your browser's local storage only.
10. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
