Terms of use

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of Faint Signal, the real-time texting adventure game for iOS and Android, published by Faint Signal. By using the app you accept them. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

2. A work of fiction, voiced by AI

Characters, places, websites and events in Faint Signal are fictional. Character replies are generated by an AI model, guided by stories written by our team. They may occasionally be inaccurate or unexpected. Nothing a character says is real advice: in a real emergency, contact your local emergency services.

3. How to play fair

  • Do not share personal information about yourself or anyone else.
  • Do not try to make characters produce hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, or try to bypass moderation.
  • Do not use the app to harass, impersonate or harm others, or to extract, scrape or reverse-engineer the service.

Messages are moderated. Repeated attempts to break these rules can lead to temporary muting or, in serious cases, account removal.

4. Faint Signal+ subscription

The app is free to download and the story of the month is free to play. Faint Signal+ is an optional subscription (US$3.99 / €3.99 per month, or the local price shown in the app before purchase) that unlocks every story, fast mode and rewind.

  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage and cancel it at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your data does not cancel it.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.

The story of the month changes each month; free access to a story may end when the next one is released. Your progress is kept.

5. Intellectual property

The stories, characters, artwork, sounds, software and the Faint Signal name and logo belong to Faint Signal. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own entertainment. You keep the rights to what you write; you allow us to process it to run the game, as described in the privacy policy.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Faint Signal running, but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted. We may update, change or retire features and stories. We may update these terms; significant changes will be announced in the app.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

8. Law and contact

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence. Questions: support@faintsignal.app. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
